DAY 1 – SATURDAY
Depart the UK for your flight to Catania. On arrival you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel in Palermo for a 2 night stay.

DAY 2 – SUNDAY (B)
This morning awake to the vibrant city of Palermo! We embark on a half day guided tour of Sicily’s capital city and take in some interesting sights along the way. Marvel at the
Baroque, Moorish and Gothic architecture as you make your way through the labyrinth of medieval streets. Vucciria market brings to life an abundance of foods and colours as
you witness some of the local flavour and maybe find a bargain or two! Nearby Monreale awaits as we head for this Cathedral town with its hidden treasures! En route take in the panoramic views and the rolling hills of the Conca d’ Oro valley, which stretches for miles. Half day at leisure.
DAY 3 – MONDAY (B, L)
A long day as we make our way to Segesta, Erice and Marsala. Segesta boasts over 3000 years of history and houses the Doric temple, a magnificent structure that stands in a miraculous state of preservation, while the nearby ancient theatre offers picturesque views of the sprawling landscape. We enjoy a sumptuous lunch in nearby Erice, overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, this is a peaceful town which is surrounded by forest and vineyards. We round the day off with some tasting of Marsala’s famous dessert wine.

DAY 4 – TUESDAY (B, D)
Our full day tour starts with a guided tour of the famous ‘Valley of the Temples’. Proclaimed a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the valley is littered with ancient temples and remains one of the greatest legacies of ancient Greece. Next we head for the charming city of Piazza Armerina, set high on a plateau. The city offers visitors a glimpse of Roman history at the famous Roman villa with its beautiful mosaics. In the afternoon we head to Caltagirone which is well known for its pottery and terracotta wares.

DAY 5 –WEDNESDAY (B)
We start today with a tour of Syracuse on this half day tour. This ancient Greek settlement, originally found by Corinthians, houses a wealth of Greek and Roman artefacts. Ortigia (Quail Island), the historical centre of Syracuse, with its windy streets, unveils numerous ancient
sites, amongst them the Palazzo Bellomo, with its paintings by Caravaggio. After discovering the nooks and crannies of this fascinating place we drive to the beautiful area of Taormina and its surrounds, for our final 3 nights.

DAY 6 –THURSDAY (B)
Today you have the day at leisure. There is the option to explore the magnificent Mount Etna or you can stroll along the pretty Corso Umberto lined with its many designer boutiques and quaint cafes. Enjoy a gelato while you watch the world go by and soak up the remarkable atmosphere! The famous Teatro Greco, situated just off Corso Umberto offers spectacular views across the bay of Naxos and Mount Etna.
DAY 7 – FRIDAY (B)
Castelmola, perched just above Taormina, is considered one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. We explore this quaint hamlet and enjoy the spectacular views out to sea. Overlooking the town lies the 13th century Castello. The rest of your day is at leisure for relaxation or last
minute shopping.
DAY 8 – SATURDAY (B)
Transfer to Catania Airport for your return flight to the UK or extend your stay. |
