Gozo is the legendary abode of Calypso, daughter of Atlas, and is also called Calypso's island. The enchanting island is a great escape and the landscape is simply stunning!
An early morning start finds you taking the short ferry ride from Mgarr Harbour to Gozo. Your full day tour firstly heads inland to Xahgra, for a visit to the Ggantija pre-historic temples. Dating from approx. 3600 - 3200 BC, these gigantic megaliths (some exceed five metres in length and weigh over 50 tons) are one of the most important arcaheological sites in the world.
Afterwards you will journey eastwards to Dwejra, home to the Azure Window. Rising to 100 metres in height this arch, which has been carved out of the coastline by years of battering by wind and waves, is seen as Gozo's most famous attraction. Other sights to be visited in Dwerja include Fungus Rock, the walls of which are covered in algae, sea urchiln, star fish and fauna, and the Inland Sea.
Next you have the opportunity to visit a local lace and knitwear factory, for which the island of Gozo is renowned. Lunch will be served in a typical Gozitan village, before you continue to the island's capital Victoria, which is situated right in the centre of Gozo. Here you will explore the narrow, winding and cobbled streets of its Citadel, and also visit the island's baroque Cathedral.
The day ends with sound and vision show, depicting the history of the island of Gozo.
Finally you willboard the ferry for our return crossing the island of Malta.
