Budapest (pronounced ‘Boo-da-PESHT’) is a very walkable municipality - it also has an excellent public transport system. The metro started operating in 1896, the second oldest in the world after London's tubes. Now there are four lines and a system of trams, trolley-buses and buses.

Buda is thought to be the calmer part of the city – whilst the Pest side of the river, tends to have a much happening – including nightlife.
