Weather in Italy

Italy is characterised by a Mediterranean climate; hot, dry summers and cool, rainy winters. July is the warmest month with temperatures up to 30ºC. Winters are cool and wet in the north and the mountainous zone. Occasionally, cold air from northern Europe may spread south into Italy, bringing snow to many mountains, while the coastlines are kept warm by high sea temperatures, Mistral storms may bring snow and gales to the southern regions.
